The basic game play for Monkey King Online is somewhat similar with many other MMORPG titles as players are being asked to finish several talks from NPC which after being done should bring them bonus that can be used to enhance their hero's stats. Since there are not many customization nor early detailed being provided for the four hero options, gamer should simply pick their most desirable characters as each have different skill-set.
Fans of this tale shouldn't be expecting an actual rendition of the actual Journey to the West Story as R2Ggames' outing is only loosely based on it. Gamer are being given the opportunity in playing as one of four legendary character from Journey to the West, such as Monkey King himself, Fox lady, Iron Fan along with Bull.
